Literally, the term denotes what is real; in its widest sense, this includes everything that is, whether or not it is observable or comprehensible. Reality in this sense includes being and sometimes is considered to include nothingness, as well. By contrast, the term existence is often restricted solely to being (compare with nature). GNU Free Documentation License How come physist tend to forget that reality start with how our minds work? Q. Every show and everthing I read about physics tend to put a subjective definition of reality on the the laws of physics. Dont we really nead to understand the workings of our brain and mind to understand the universe? Also, I've always been taught that science only looks for the what, where, when and how. There is no 'why' in science, but wont we come to a point when we may have to consider a 'why'. Can I get a physist or neurologist to anwer this question because people answering it dont get it? Asked by wisemancumth - Tue May 8 20:09:04 2007 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. OK I am a PhD physicist with 40 years in the field. Physics does address the "why" question, coming up with theories to describe what is observed, and making predictions that if verified lend some credibility to the theory. However, the first observation that violates the theory causes the theory to be thrown out or modified, changing our view of the physical world. There is a limit to how deeply physics, or any science can answer the ultimate "why" question. The closer a theory gets to fundamental understanding, the clearer it is that there is a level of understanding that probably cannot be known. There are many well known cases where it was thought that science had reached a fundamental limit of knowledge, only to be upset by a… [cont.] Answered by amused_from_afar - Tue May 8 21:07:57 2007 What is the fate of organized religion in the face of reality? Q. In the modern (real) world, woman are not expected to remain silent and subservient and can in fact be leaders, gays are not inherently sinners, dinosaurs did in fact rule the world for millions of years, there may be sentient life on other planets, and slavery is an affront to humanity. How long can the traditional churches possibly continue to try to reconcile their scriptural beliefs with the reality all around them? Asked by Cool Dude - Fri Oct 30 16:48:51 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. Organized religion either dies out completely, or evolves as human civilization progresses, laxing the rules to gain more adherence and redefining their text or principles. The only reason the LGBT community on here sounds so anti-religious in simply the Abrahamnic Faiths history of condemning homosexuality. If those sections of the text were ignored along with all the other passages that modern churches don't interpret literally.. all of you would be die hard believers also =/ I was raised in a religious, yet open household myself. I ultimately became agnostic, but that doesn't mean my church was ever hateful or unkind to me dspite my sexual orientation.
