In human communities, intent, belief, resources, preferences, needs, risks, and a number of other conditions may be present and common, affecting the identity of the participants and their degree of cohesiveness. In sociology, the concept of community has led to significant debate, and sociologists are yet to reach agreement on a definition of the term. There were ninety-four discrete definitions of the term by the mid-1950s. Traditionally a "community" has been defined as a group of interacting people living in a common location. The word is often used to refer to a group that is organized around common values and is attributed with social cohesion within a shared geographical location, generally in social units larger than a household. The word can also refer to the national community or global community. The word "community" is derived from the Old French communité which is derived from the Latin communitas (cum, "with/together" + munus, "gift"), a broad term for fellowship or organized society. Since the advent of the Internet, the concept of community no longer has geographical limitations, as people can now virtually gather in an online community and share common interests regardless of physical location. How can a community newspaper generate supportive letters from their community leaders for publishing? How would such a letter be written? Would they ask for a specific response? Should they start on the top of the ladder and go for it? How does a community newspaper hit a home run and land an interview from a well known politician? Asked by NOLA Girl in Texas - Thu Sep 4 03:56:44 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. The City Council pays top dollar for advertising and then get nice reviews from the owner of the newspaper.. If City Council decided to use another newspaper or changed the medium [Internet] to advertise. Then the newspaper will come out and say the mayor doesn't know what she/he doing ,their wasting tax payers money etc etc etc So everything stays the same. Q. I am planning to transfer from my local community college to a University. Should I pay for the other applications fees and send in my HS transcripts or should I just leave it to expire past the admission due date? Will this look bad on my record or not? Sense I already picked a community college to go to. Asked by mo0ink - Fri Dec 11 20:23:50 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. No, if you've already applied, decided and been accepted to the community college of your choice there's no need to pay for or apply to the university. It won't reflect negatively on you at all so I wouldn't worry about it. Community colleges are a great way to start before transferring to a larger 4 year institution. They're also generally far less expensive so you should be able to save for the more expensive university for when you transfer. Best of luck to you in your studies! Answered by dmyers7us - Fri Dec 11 21:24:03 2009 What kind of credit risk is involved with community banks?
Q. Say you know a guy who runs a community bank with a single branch. He is an integral part of the community and he lends only to the people that live within the community and has been doing it for decades. Is this a sound strategy? Sounds good to me, most banks are community banks and seems pretty easy to keep things in balance (you deposit he lends). What do you think? Asked by nitre - Sun Nov 25 23:54:54 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. That kind of lending, in which a member of the community lends only to people in the community, is extremely rare these days. Most banks only find it efficient to lend on verifiable, objective criteria (personal FICO scores, income verification, real estate appraisals) rather than local knowledge of members of a community. If you find a community lender, I'm impressed, because it is a rare phenomenon.
