It is a broader term than "art," which as a description of a field usually means only the visual arts. The arts encompasses visual arts, literature and the performing arts - music, drama, dance and film, among others. This list is by no means comprehensive, but only meant to introduce the concept of the arts. Lincoln Center for the Performing ArtsFrom Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What private, liberal arts colleges have an exceptional arts program? Q. I'm majoring in Studio Arts and possibly French or International Relations. My current school is strong in the liberal arts but their visual arts program is underdeveloped and pretty elementary, so I want to transfer. I feel like I rarely hear about good arts programs at small, private colleges so I'm looking for some suggestions, primarily in the Pacific Northwest but I'm open to anything. Thanks. Asked by J'aime Le Pois - Wed Jan 28 16:08:18 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. The small, liberal arts schools that I know have excellent overall academics and strong visual arts programs are on the east coast, sorry. They include: Bard, Skidmore, Tufts (via their relationship with the School of the MFA Boston), Brown (via their relationship with RISD; and like Tufts, maybe big for you, but they really are small unis, relatively speaking), and Carnegie Mellon U (again, a small uni). Those are all very strong. The one I think is dead-on for what you want is Bard. Others you could consider include Smith, Hampshire, Wesleyan, and SUNY New Palz. Answered by RoaringMice - Wed Jan 28 16:17:06 2009 What type of martial arts would be good for me? Q. I'm paralyzed on my left side, thus meaning that my left arm is paralyzed but I can walk. Now, I said that to help explain this: I want to learn martial arts but I'm limited. My right leg and arm are really strong and since I have this dilemma I'm wondering what art would be good for me. What do you suggest? Karate, boxing, or any other I'm forgetting? Asked by Coolman2 - Tue Jan 19 03:22:39 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. its not the style but finding an instructor that can work with and understand you limitations. not all instructor are good and even few can deal with limitations such as yours. but there are some that are very good at teaching people with various handicaps. you need to start by interviewing the instructors and find one that fits your needs, Answered by Shihan J - Tue Jan 19 07:43:54 2010 What kind of martial arts school should I go to for film and stunt work?
Q. I've done martials arts for 8 years. 4 Karate and 4 Tae kwon do. I think I'm pretty good but average schools don't exactly teach you how to do all the crazy high flying stuff in films. Now I know nowadays computer effects play a big role but I know you still have to have some talent if you only want to just do stunts or be a fight coordinator. How can I get that type of training? Asked by Johnny - Fri Jan 30 05:27:15 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Gymnastics is the way to go, if you can kick you can kick. The gymnastics will develop your flexibility and coordination emensly. The most showy art I know of for movie work is probably wushu though. That way you will learn all the weapons stuff too. It got Jet Li a long way. Or an alternative is the Beijing Opera School where Jackie Chan trained, but good luck getting a position there! Also, look for stunt groups in your area, groups like Team Ryoku are are all over the place now. The film industry is strange beast though, it can take a very very long time to get anywhere unless you have a contact or two but best of luck to you :-) Answered by bujin - Fri Jan 30 06:13:31 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Arts" 'The Art of the Steal' highlights one-sided nature of some documentaries
